Exploring the possibility of Peter Pan discs across stellar mass

Martijn J. C. Wilhelm et al.

Summary: Recent studies have revealed that 'Peter Pan discs' phenomenon can only occur around M dwarf stars, not around stars of higher mass. The lifetime of primordial discs depends on the host star's mass, with stars less than 0.6 solar masses being able to retain the discs for about 50 Myr.

The GALAH survey: characterization of emission-line stars with spectral modelling using autoencoders

Klemen Cotar et al.

Summary: The study introduces a neural network autoencoder structure to extract essential spectral features and reconstruct spectra. The network can reproduce high signal-to-noise ratio spectra without peculiarities, aiding in the identification of emission features like Hα/Hβ emission components, some of which show temporal variability.

A ∼75 per cent occurrence rate of debris discs around F stars in the β Pic moving group

Nicole Pawellek et al.

Summary: This paper examines the population of F stars in the 23 Myr-old beta Pictoris moving group (BPMG) and finds that 9/12 targets in the group possess debris discs. Comparing the results with other moving groups and field stars, it is revealed that young moving groups have a comparable or higher incidence rate of debris discs and tend to have smaller discs compared to field stars. The study also suggests that the depletion of debris discs in young populations may be attributed to embedded planets and different birth environments.

A New Sample of Warm Extreme Debris Disks from the ALLWISE Catalog

Attila Moor et al.

Summary: Extreme debris disks (EDDs) are rare systems with large amounts of warm dust surrounding main-sequence stars. The identified EDDs exhibit characteristics such as high dust temperatures and mid-IR emission variability. Wide-orbit pairs are more common in EDD systems, and a majority of giant collisions in these systems seem to occur after the first 100 Myr.

Discovery of an Edge-on Circumstellar Debris Disk around BD+45° 598: A Newly Identified Member of the β Pictoris Moving Group

Sasha Hinkley et al.

Summary: A nearly edge-on circumstellar debris disk associated with the young K1 star BD+45 degrees 598 was discovered using high-contrast imaging at 2.2 μm. Resolved continuum emission aligned with the ring structure seen in the images was found using the NOEMA interferometer operating at 1.3 mm. The galactic position of BD+45 degrees 598 suggests membership in the beta Pictoris Moving Group, with characteristics consistent with an age of 23 +/- 3 Myr.

The GALAH plus survey: Third data release

Sven Buder et al.

Summary: This study presents the chemical element abundance measurements and orbit properties of stars in the Milky Way, providing crucial data for understanding the evolution of our galaxy. Utilizing multiple observation instruments, the research team derived abundance ratios and stellar parameters, validating and analyzing the results to study stellar ages and dynamics. This comprehensive data release enables further chrono-chemodynamic analyses and showcases the advancements made in understanding the Milky Way's evolution.

A WISE view of IRAS debris disks: revising the dust properties

Qiong Liu

Summary: Debris disks around stars are important components of planetary systems and studying their dust properties can provide valuable information about the formation and evolution of planets. IRAS played a key role in discovering debris disk host stars, but limitations in the database require using WISE data for more accurate characterization. By using WISE data, the dust properties of sample stars were better characterized, revealing overestimated dust temperatures and identifying stars with mid-infrared excess emission.

A Number of nearby Moving Groups May Be Fragments of Dissolving Open Clusters

Jonathan Gagne et al.

Summary: Recent research suggests that 14 co-moving groups of stars may be related to known nearby moving groups, forming extensive tidal tails that connect nearby open clusters. This discovery could potentially change our understanding of the formation pathways of nearby moving groups.
