A Transiting, Temperate Mini-Neptune Orbiting the M Dwarf TOI-1759 Unveiled by TESS

Nestor Espinoza et al.

Summary: We report the discovery and characterization of TOI-1759 b, a sub-Neptune-sized exoplanet with a moderate temperature orbiting the M dwarf TOI-1759. The actual period, radius, and mass of TOI-1759 b were determined through joint analysis of photometry and radial velocity measurements. This planet shows potential for transmission spectroscopy studies and is among the top exoplanets with the highest transmission spectroscopic metric (TSM) value. Additionally, two additional signals in the radial velocities indicate possible stellar activity and further investigation is needed to determine their nature.

Metallicities in M dwarfs: Investigating different determination techniques

V. M. Passegger et al.

Summary: The determination of metallicities for cooler stars such as M dwarfs is more complicated due to the presence of molecular lines. In this study, we determine the effective temperatures, surface gravities, and metallicities of 18 M dwarfs using different methods. We find significant differences in the derived metallicities when comparing different approaches.

Transit timings variations in the three-planet system: TOI-270

Laurel Kaye et al.

Summary: We studied the TOI-270 system, which consists of one super-Earth and two sub-Neptunes. Our observations revealed that the planets orbit near low-order mean-motion resonances and exhibit large transit timing variations. Through dynamical modeling and incorporating radial velocity observations, we obtained estimates of the masses and eccentricities of the planets, as well as information about their composition.

The New Generation Planetary Population Synthesis (NGPPS) III. Warm super-Earths and cold Jupiters: a weak occurrence correlation, but with a strong architecture-composition link

M. Schlecker et al.

Summary: Recent observational findings suggest a positive correlation between inner super-Earths and outer giant planets. This study investigates the properties of these planet species formed through core accretion, and finds that a joint occurrence of the two planet types requires intermediate solid reservoirs in the protoplanetary disk. Differences in volatile content in planets of different system architectures were also noted, with a prediction that high-density super-Earths are more likely to host an outer giant.

Monitoring the radio emission of Proxima Centauri

M. Perez-Torres et al.

Summary: A comprehensive radio monitoring campaign towards Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the Sun, revealed radio emission patterns consistent with the orbital period of the planet Proxima b and the magnetic field intensity of the star. Short-duration flares and a long-duration burst were observed, supporting the hypothesis of electron cyclotron-maser emission. The study suggests the potential for monitoring other dwarf stars with planets to study star-planet interaction through radio emission.

The New Generation Planetary Population Synthesis (NGPPS) IV. Planetary systems around low-mass stars

R. Burn et al.

Summary: Through global simulations of planet formation and evolution, we found that temperate, Earth-sized planets are most common around early M dwarfs (0.3 M⊙-0.5 M⊙) and less common around Solar-type stars and late M dwarfs. The linear scaling of disk mass does not directly correlate with planetary mass distribution, attributed to the emergence of giant planets for M_* >= 0.5 M⊙ leading to the ejection of smaller planets.

A large sub-Neptune transiting the thick-disk M4 V TOI-2406

R. D. Wells et al.

Summary: The discovery and validation of a sub-Neptune orbiting the thick-disk, mid-M dwarf star TOI-2406 is reported. The host star is identified as a metal-poor M4 V star with properties T-eff = 3100 +/- 75 K, M-* = 0.162 +/- 0.008M(circle dot), R-* = 0.202 +/- 0.011R(circle dot), and [Fe/H] = -0.38 +/- 0.07, while the planet TOI-2406 b is a relatively large sub-Neptune for the M-dwarf planet population with intriguing non-zero eccentricity.
