Constraining Nucleosynthesis in Neutrino-driven Winds: Observations, Simulations, and Nuclear Physics

A. Psaltis et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of nuclear reactions on the synthesis of lighter heavy elements. Using a Monte Carlo approach and improved (alpha, xn) rates, the study identifies the effects of (alpha, xn) reaction rates on elemental ratios in different astrophysical conditions. The study calls for more nuclear physics experiments and observational studies of metal-poor stars.

Atomic data for the Gaia-ESO Survey

U. Heiter et al.

Summary: The study discusses the use of atomic and molecular data for abundance analyses of FGK-type stars within the Gaia-ESO Survey from 2012 to 2019. An effort was made to create a common line list for different analysis groups to calculate synthetic spectra, with preference for experimental data over theoretical values. Recommendations for line broadening data and enhancing accuracy in abundance determinations were provided.

Purveyors of fine halos: III. Chemical abundance analysis of a potential ωCen associate☆☆

Andreas J. Koch-Hansen et al.

Summary: The paper presents a detailed chemical abundance analysis of the halo star J110842, previously kinematically associated with the massive MW GC omega Centauri. The star's metallicity and abundance distributions are closely compatible with omega Centauri, suggesting a possible origin as a second-generation GC star. However, its overlap with other MW components complicates a clear-cut distinction of its origin.

A. G. A. Brown et al.

Summary: Gaia EDR3 is the early installment of the third data release from the Gaia project, providing astrometry and photometry for 1.8 billion sources brighter than magnitude 21, along with radial velocities from Gaia DR2. The data processing precision and homogeneity have significantly improved compared to the previous version, with additional information on celestial bodies and an updated celestial reference frame.

The intermediate neutron capture process I. Development of the i-process in low-metallicity low-mass AGB stars

A. Choplin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the possibility of i-process nucleosynthesis in low-metallicity low-mass stars during the early stages of the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) phase, in order to explain the abundance patterns of r/s-stars. Results show that the i-process elemental distribution is not strongly affected by the temporal and spatial resolution used to compute the stellar models, but there are typical uncertainties in individual abundances of approximately +/- 0.3 dex. Specific isotopic ratios of certain elements can serve as good tracers of i-process nucleosynthesis.
