Efficacy of 0.05% cyclosporine A on the lipid layer and meibomian glands after cataract surgery: A randomized, double-masked study

Min Seung Kang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to quantitatively evaluate the effects of 0.05% Cyclosporine A (CsA) on lipid layer thickness (LLT) and meibomian glands after cataract surgery using the LipiView (R) ocular surface interferometer. The results showed that treatment with CsA following cataract surgery could effectively improve tear breakup time (TBUT) and LLT, with higher preoperative LLT values and postoperative use of CsA being significant determinants of increased postoperative LLT values.

Diagnostic potential of hypoxia-induced genes in liquid biopsies of breast cancer patients

Carlos Henrique F. Peiro et al.

Summary: The study showed that the expression of HIF-1alpha and GLUT1 in the blood of breast cancer patients is significantly higher, indicating potential diagnostic value. However, while CAIX is also more expressed in breast cancer women blood, it is detected in only a few samples and none of these genes could be considered predictive markers.

Downregulation of FABP5 Suppresses the Proliferation and Induces the Apoptosis of Gastric Cancer Cells Through the Hippo Signaling Pathway

Wendong Wang et al.

Summary: FABP5 plays a crucial role in various cancers, with high expression associated with poor prognosis. Inhibition of FABP5 suppresses cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and induces apoptosis, and is related to the Hippo signaling pathway. Overexpression of YAP1 can partially reverse the effects of FABP5 knockdown on cell growth and apoptosis. The FABP5 inhibitor SBFI-26 suppresses proliferation, promotes apoptosis in gastric cancer cells, and interferes with the Hippo signaling pathway by inhibiting YAP1.
