Fingerprint-Inspired Strain Sensor with Balanced Sensitivity and Strain Range Using Laser-Induced Graphene

Wentao Wang et al.

Summary: Inspired by the characteristics of human fingertip skin, a fingerprint-inspired strain sensor exhibits fast response time, balanced sensitivity and strain range, and good reliability. Self-organized microcracks in weak mechanical areas cause significant resistance changes during reconnection/disconnection but irreversibly fail after excessive stretching, demonstrating the robust function of fingerprint-inspired sensors.

One-step laser induced conversion of a gelatin-coated polyimide film into graphene: Tunable morphology, surface wettability and microsupercapacitor applications

Wang WenTao et al.

Summary: The latest advances have demonstrated the formation of porous graphene on polyimide films through laser induction process. By adjusting the laser fluence, the surface morphology of the carbonized layer can be controlled, leading to a significant transition in surface wettability. The combination of morphology evolution and surface chemistry plays a crucial role in achieving a Janus superhydrophobic/superhydrophilic surface wettability under specific laser fluence.

Controlling the laser induction and cutting process on polyimide films for kirigami-inspired supercapacitor applications

Wang WenTao et al.

Summary: Inspired by kirigami, a stretchable supercapacitor was designed by controlling laser induction and cutting processes on polyimide film. Experimental and theoretical results showed that laser power, scan rate, and focus condition greatly influenced the size, shape, and morphology of the carbonized lines. Optimization of laser parameters led to the fabrication of kirigami-inspired supercapacitors with reliable electrochemical properties and editable mechanical flexibility.
