Technical Note: Induced radioactivity in stereotactic body radiation therapy with a flattening-filter-free 10 MV beam model

Summary: The study investigated the induced radioactivity in 10 FFF SBRT, identifying radioisotopes and measuring dose rates. Results showed Al-28 had the highest dose contribution, with a nonlinear growth in dose rates with increasing MU and beam rate. The removal of the flattening filter reduced dose rates by 40%, and SBRT had a higher dose level compared to conventional fractionation.

Additional radiation sources in a treatment and control room of medical linear accelerators

Summary: This study investigated additional sources of gamma rays and neutrons in the treatment and control rooms of an Elekta accelerator used in radiotherapy. Measurements and identification of induced radioisotopes were conducted using a gamma-ray spectroscopy technique with an HPGe detector. Neutron fields were also identified in the control room, confirming the presence of neutrons induced by nuclear reactions in the germanium crystal of the detector.
