Synthesis of Zn/Cu metal ion modified natural palygorskite clay - TiO2 nanocomposites for the photocatalytic outdoor and indoor air purification

A. Mavrikos et al.

Summary: In this study, natural palygorskite clay was combined with TiO2 nanocrystals to create nanocomposites for photocatalytic air de-pollution. The nanocomposites showed superior performance in oxidation of air pollutants compared to traditional TiO2 catalysts, making them promising for indoor and outdoor air purification applications.

Probing CO on a rutile TiO2(110) surface using atomic force microscopy and Kelvin probe force microscopy

Yuuki Adachi et al.

Summary: Probing CO on a rutile TiO2(110) surface using atomic force microscopy and Kelvin probe force microscopy enables the resolution of the interatomic dipole moment and charge state of CO at atomic resolution. The results suggest that both charge state and on-surface dipole interaction play a significant role in the reaction of CO on rutile TiO2(110) surface.

Potocatalytic antifouling membrane with dense nano-TiO2 coating for efficient oil-in-water emulsion separation and self-cleaning

Yang Yang et al.

Summary: A dense rutile nano-titanium dioxide coating was successfully constructed on nonwoven fabric membrane surfaces using a bio-inspired sol-gel method. The coated membrane exhibited improved water affinity, dynamic water super-wetting, water penetration, and underwater oil repellency. The mineralized nano-TiO2 enhanced the hydration layer and prevented fouling by proteins and emulsified oil droplets. The coated membrane also showed high stability and self-cleaning abilities, making it suitable for crude oil/water emulsion remediation.

Self-cleaning performance of nano-TiO2 modified metakaolin-based geopolymers

Krishnan U. Ambikakumari Sanalkumar et al.

Summary: Incorporating nano-TiO2 particles into geopolymer can enhance the material's compressive strength, total solar reflectance, photoinduced hydrophilicity, and contaminant decomposition properties. TiO2 acts as fillers in geopolymer, densifying the binder and improving its overall performance.

Photocatalytic Oxidation of PLA/TiO2-Composite Films for Indoor Air Purification

Pattamaphon Chanklom et al.

Summary: This study focused on incorporating TiO2-anatase into polylactic acid (PLA) using the blown film method for the mitigation of indoor air pollution. The homogeneity of TiO2 distribution in the PLA matrix was demonstrated, and the relationship between TiO2 dosage and photocatalytic oxidation rate was determined. The use of environmentally friendly biodegradable polymers, such as PLA, provides an alternative way to address environmental concerns associated with non-decomposable plastics.

Energy-Level Alignment at Interfaces between Transition-Metal Dichalcogenide Monolayers and Metal Electrodes Studied with Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy

Pavel A. Markeev et al.

Summary: The energy-level alignment at interfaces between various transition-metal dichalcogenide monolayers and metal electrodes of different work functions was studied. MoS2 exhibited Fermi-level pinning, while WSe2/metal junctions behaved according to the Schottky-Mott limit, with WS2 and MoSe2 exhibiting intermediate behavior.
