Nickel (II) chloride schiff base complex: Synthesis, characterization, toxicity, antibacterial and leishmanicidal activity

Summary: The schiff base complex [Ni(L2)] showed moderate toxicity, significant leishmanicidal activity, and antibacterial effects against P. aeruginosa, but did not have clinically relevant minimum inhibitory concentration against S. aureus and E. coli. The combination of [Ni(L2)] complex with antibacterial drugs enhanced the antibiotic activity against multi-resistant strains, suggesting its potential as a promising molecule for new therapies against resistant bacteria and leishmaniasis.

Utility of pyrrole-2-thioacetohydrazide in synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds with promising antimicrobial activities and molecular docking studies

Summary: A one-pot synthetic method for [(3-cyano-5-phenyl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)sulfanyl]acetic acids with excellent yield was developed using TBAB catalyzed reaction under phase transfer catalysis conditions. The synthesized compounds showed good in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities, especially exhibiting strong inhibitory effects against the E. coli MurB enzyme.

DFT calculations and molecular docking studies indicated the binding nature and affinity of the synthesized compounds with different receptors, followed by in silico ADMET predictions.

It was found that the DAPY-DCNP complex is more stable than the DAPY-DNS complex, and the physical and thermodynamic parameters of the formed PT complexes were determined.

Symmetrical Pd(II) and Ni(II) Schiff base complexes: Synthesis, crystal structure determination, spectral characterization, and theoretical studies

Summary: New palladium(II) and nickel(II) complexes of symmetrical Schiff base ligand derived from 4,5-dimethyl-o-phenylenediamine were prepared and their molecular structures were investigated using elemental analysis and spectroscopic methods. The crystal structure analysis revealed that the coordination environment of nickel in the NiL complex is tetra-coordinate with slightly distorted square planar geometry. Hirshfeld surface investigation provided further understanding of the intermolecular interactions, and theoretical calculations supported the experimental findings.

The most stable orientations of these complexes were determined using density functional theory calculations. Furthermore, the metal complexes demonstrated higher antibacterial and antifungal activity.

Summary: This study investigates the synergistic role of changes in Mg2+/Al3+ ions in the catalytic activity of Co-Mg-Al layered triple hydroxides (LTHs) for the synthesis of indol-3-yl derivatives. The optimal conditions for the highest yield were identified, and the catalysts were found to be stable and reusable for multiple cycles. This work provides a cost-effective and flexible strategy for the synthesis of indol-3-yl derivatives using Co-Mg-Al LTHs.

Summary: The study synthesized novel mixed-ligand metal complexes and investigated their structures, properties, as well as antimicrobial and anticancer activities. The metal complexes exhibited high cytotoxicity against human breast cancer and liver cancer cell lines, and showed significant antimicrobial activities against a wide spectrum of bacterial and fungal strains. Molecular docking studies suggested an octahedral coordination geometry for all the metal complexes, and theoretical optimization indicated crystalline nature for Cd(II) and La(III) metal complexes.
