Characteristics and Experiences of Ride-Hailing Drivers with Electric Vehicles

Summary: Electrification of transportation network companies (TNCs) like Uber and Lyft can bring social and environmental benefits through reduced vehicle emissions and increased use of renewable electricity, along with cost savings for drivers. PEV drivers on the Uber platform in the US are motivated by economic benefits and most charge their vehicles daily, mainly at home. Increased electric driving range and more charger locations are top priorities for improving support for PEVs among TNC drivers, while range limitations are a key reason why some PHEV drivers do not opt for a BEV.
