Lignocellulose particle size and rheological properties changes in periodic peristalsis enzymatic hydrolysis at high solids

Lan Wang et al.

Summary: Periodic peristalsis is an effective intensification method in high solids enzymatic hydrolysis. The changes in particle size, viscosity, and yield stress under periodic peristalsis were studied, and their relationship with enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency and energy consumption were analyzed. The results showed significant improvements in particle size, viscosity, and yield stress of the slurry under periodic peristalsis, with lower energy consumption. These findings provide guidance for industrial application.

Efficient high-solids enzymatic hydrolysis of corncobs by an acidic pretreatment and a fed-batch feeding mode

Xue Cai et al.

Summary: This study achieved high-yield hydrolysis of corncob with 25% solids content using different pretreatment methods and fed-batch modes. The optimal feeding mode was found to be a low amount and high frequency mode, resulting in 84.4% glucose yield in 96 hours. This research demonstrates that the combination of optimized pretreatment method and fed-batch mode is favored for industrial-scale high-solids hydrolysis.

Potential of Wheat Milling Byproducts to Produce Fermentable Sugars via Mild Ethanol-Alkaline Pretreatment

Jikai Zhao et al.

Summary: Ethanol-NaOH pretreatment showed higher sugar recoveries compared to NaOH pretreatment, with mild conditions resulting in neutral slurries without harmful byproducts. Integrating bran starch hydrolysate with ethanol-NaOH-pretreated biomass enhanced sugar concentration and yield. Milling byproducts rich in carbohydrates have potential for biochemical production with mild ethanol-alkaline pretreatment.
