A randomized phase III trial comparing adjuvant single-agent S1, S-1 with oxaliplatin, and postoperative chemoradiation with S-1 and oxaliplatin in patients with node-positive gastric cancer after D2 resection: the ARTIST 2 trial

S. H. Park et al.

Summary: The study compared three adjuvant treatment regimens for gastric cancer patients and found that adjuvant SOX or SOXRT was effective in prolonging disease-free survival (DFS) compared to S-1 monotherapy. However, there was no significant difference in DFS between SOX and SOXRT, and adverse events were manageable in each treatment arm.

Identification of Patients With Locally Advanced Gastric Cancer Who May Benefit From Adjuvant Chemoradiotherapy After D2 dissection: A Propensity Score Matching Analysis

Shu-Bei Wang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that adjuvant CRT significantly reduced the risk of local regional recurrence after D2 dissection of LAGC, particularly for N1-3a stage patients. However, there was no significant difference in three-year disease-free survival between the CRT and CT groups. In particular, for N3b stage patients, CRT did not reduce the risk of local regional recurrence.

Chemoradiotherapy or chemotherapy as adjuvant treatment for resected gastric cancer: should we use selection criteria?

Houyem Mansouri et al.

Summary: This study compared the prognosis and survival outcomes of patients with gastric adenocarcinoma who received adjuvant radiochemotherapy or chemotherapy, and found that adjuvant CTRT significantly improved 5-year PFS and 5-year OS compared to adjuvant CT, particularly in patients with lymph node involvement, high LNR, LVI, and PNI. Adding radiotherapy to chemotherapy showed a particular survival benefit in selected criteria patients.

Comparison of Perioperative Chemotherapy versus Postoperative Chemoradiotherapy for Operable Stomach Cancer: A Western Canadian Province Experience

Adnan Zaidi et al.

Summary: The study found that there was no significant survival advantage of perioperative chemotherapy (PC) over postoperative chemoradiotherapy (PCR) in patients with resectable stomach cancer. T >= 3 tumor, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (LNR) > 2.8, and positive resection margins were independently correlated with inferior survival.
