C-Reactive Protein/Albumin Ratio Predicts Acute Kidney Injury in Patients With Moderate to Severe Chronic Kidney Disease and Non-ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction

Baris Simsek et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of the C-reactive protein/albumin ratio (CAR) for acute kidney injury (AKI) in non-dialysis patients with moderate to severe chronic kidney disease (CKD) who presented with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and underwent coronary angiography (CAG). The results showed that CAR levels >0.20 were significantly associated with AKI development, with a sensitivity of 74% and a specificity of 45%.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between CAR and long-term adverse outcomes in CAD patients after PCI, revealing that CAR is an independent predictor of ACM and cardiac mortality in these patients.

Inflammation as a determinant of healing response after coronary stent implantation

Dorota Ochijewicz et al.

Summary: This review highlights the important role of inflammation in atherosclerosis development and adverse clinical outcomes in patients post percutaneous coronary interventions. Limited data on stent elements causing excessive inflammatory response and strategies for high-risk patient identification, prevention, and treatment were discussed. The review also evaluates the potential imaging modalities for detecting inflammatory response and anti-inflammatory therapies in the context of evolving stent technologies.
