Pressure-induced emission enhancement by restricting chemical bond vibration

Zhiyuan Fu et al.

Summary: In this study, the pressure-induced emission enhancement (PIEE) phenomenon was found to be produced by limiting intramolecular chemical bond vibration. Dibenzo[b,d]thiophene 5,5-dioxide (DBTS) is an aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) material, which can greatly restrict molecular vibrations and promote emission enhancement under high pressure by strengthening intermolecular hydrogen bonds. This study introduces a new AIEE and PIEE fluorophore and provides insights into the influence of intermolecular interactions on intramolecular chemical bond vibration and luminescence.
