Enthalpy-change driven synthesis of high-entropy perovskite nanoparticles

Siyang Nie et al.

Summary: High-entropy ceramics show great potential for catalysis, especially as nanoparticles, due to their diverse composition and tunable properties. By reducing the mixing enthalpy, a negative Gibbs free energy for crystallization was achieved, enabling the successful preparation of single-phase high-entropy ceramics nanoparticles at relatively low temperatures, exhibiting excellent catalytic oxidation activity and robust stability even in the presence of water in feeding gas.

Catalytic hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol on hydrotalcite-derived CuxNi3-xAlOy mixed-metal oxides

Lin Luo et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new strategy for designing simple, cheap, and efficient catalysts for the hydrogenation of FAL to FOL, using CuxNi3-xAlOy mixed-metal oxides derived from CuxNi3-xAl hydrotalcite. The Cu2Ni1AlOy catalyst showed the best performance with high conversion and selectivity, indicating potential for industrial application. Characterization studies revealed the in situ reduction of CuOx species to metallic copper on the catalyst surface during the reaction, highlighting the importance of Ni in dispersing Cu and promoting hydrogenation catalysis.

Direct Oxidation of Cyclohexane to Adipic Acid by a WFeCoO(OH) Catalyst: Role of Bronsted Acidity and Oxygen Vacancies

Dnyanesh Vernekar et al.

Summary: This work investigates the catalytic activity of trimetallic mixed-metal oxyhydroxide WFeCoO(OH) for the direct oxidation of cyclohexane to adipic acid. The presence of acidic, basic, and redox sites on WFeCoO(OH) contributes to its enhanced catalytic performance. Surface lattice oxygen, acidity, and propensity to generate oxygen vacancies all play crucial roles in the catalytic process.
