Highly Enhanced Catalytic Stability of Copper by the Synergistic Effect of Porous Hierarchy and Alloying for Selective Hydrogenation Reaction

Hao Yuan et al.

Summary: Supported copper has the potential to replace palladium-based catalysts in selective alkynes/alkadienes hydrogenation, but its catalytic stability is low. This study demonstrates the synthesis of 2.5 wt% Cu catalysts supported on hierarchically porous alumina with enhanced catalytic stability through the introduction of macropores, mesopores, and modified copper active sites with Zn.

Breaking the activity limitation of iridium single-atom catalyst in hydrogenation of quinoline with synergistic nanoparticles catalysis

Qikai Shen et al.

Summary: Single-atom catalysts (SACs) with the advantages of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts have become a hot-spot in catalysis field. However, the lack of metal-metal bond in SACs limits their hydrogenation activity. This study proposes a catalyst, Ir1+NPs/CMK, which combines single iridium atoms and nanoparticles to boost the catalytic activity of quinoline hydrogenation, and achieves significant improvement in reactivity.

Room-temperature electrochemical acetylene reduction to ethylene with high conversion and selectivity

Run Shi et al.

Summary: An electrochemical acetylene reduction system based on a layered double hydroxide-derived copper catalyst has been developed for efficient ethylene production at room temperature, achieving high ethylene Faradaic efficiency and inhibiting alkane and hydrogen formation. The system demonstrates superior acetylene conversion metrics and offers potential advantages in energy and atom economies, making it a viable alternative to current technologies for acetylene-to-ethylene conversions.

Selective electrocatalytic semihydrogenation of acetylene impurities for the production of polymer-grade ethylene

Jun Bu et al.

Summary: The study introduces an electrocatalytic semihydrogenation strategy to selectively reduce acetylene impurities to ethylene under ambient conditions, achieving high ethylene production rate and stability. This strategy can be universally applied for hydrogenating other alkyne impurities to produce polymer-grade olefins, such as propylene and 1,3-butadiene.
