Building protein networks in synthetic systems from the bottom-up

Jiyoung Shim et al.

Summary: The recent development of synthetic biology allows for the design and construction of protein networks from the bottom-up outside of living cells. This new capability enables the assembly of protein networks for studying cellular pathways, expression of proteins, and tissue materials. The integration of natural and synthetic protein networks opens up possibilities for new functions in synthetic or artificial cells.
