Nonbonding/Bonding Molecular Orbital Regulation of Nitrogen-Boron-Oxygen-embedded Blue/Green Multiresonant TADF Emitters with High Efficiency and Color Purity

Guanting Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, multiresonant thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) materials embedded with nitrogen-boron-oxygen (N-B-O) were synthesized and characterized, with color-tunability between blue and green. The three emitter materials exhibited high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM). By regulating the nonbonding/bonding molecular orbital characters, the emission color of m-DiNBO and p-DiNBO could be tuned from blue to green. Due to their expanded planar molecular structure, m-DiNBO and p-DiNBO showed high horizontal dipole ratio. OLEDs prepared with these materials exhibited high external quantum efficiencies and pure-color emission of different colors.
