Self-healing liquid metal composite for reconfigurable and recyclable soft electronics

Ravi Tutika et al.

Summary: The increasing demand for soft electronics and robotics has led to the development of a liquid metal-elastomer-plasticizer composite that is self-healing, reconfigurable, and recyclable. These skin-like electronics can stretch to 1200% strain with minimal change in electrical resistance, sustain numerous damage events under load without losing electrical conductivity, and be recycled to generate new devices at the end of life. Such soft composites with adaptive liquid metal microstructures have broad applications for improved lifetime and recyclability in the field of soft electronics and robotics.
