Adsorption of Pollutants from Colored Wastewaters after Natural Wool Dyeing

Alenka Ojstrsek et al.

Summary: The efficiency of zeolite 4A and activated carbon (AC) in removing color, COD, TOC, and metals from wool dyeing wastewaters was evaluated in this study. The results showed that zeolite was effective in removing metallic ions, while AC was more efficient in reducing organic pollution. All three adsorbents significantly reduced the color of the wastewaters.

Adsorption of chromium ions from tannery effluents onto activated carbon prepared from rice husk and potato peel by H3PO4 activation

Ephraim Vunain et al.

Summary: Activated carbons prepared from rice husks and potato peels showed high efficiency in removing hexavalent chromium from tannery effluents, with adsorption process following pseudo-second-order kinetics and achieving optimal uptake at pH 2.0. RH-AC and PP-AC are effective adsorbents for chromium(VI) ions removal from wastewater.

Synthesis and characterization of microporous activated carbon from rubberwood by chemical activation with KOH

Wasutha Thongpat et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of impregnation ratio and activation temperature on the microporous development of activated carbon derived from rubberwood chips using potassium hydroxide as the activation agent. The results showed that activated carbon produced with a 1:3 impregnation ratio and activated at 800 degrees Celsius exhibited the highest surface area, pore volume, and micropore volume.

Water Purification of Classical and Emerging Organic Pollutants: An Extensive Review

Simona Somma et al.

Summary: This review discusses the main techniques for removing organic pollutants from water, including adsorption, reductive and oxidative processes, phytoremediation, bioremediation, separation by membranes, and liquid-liquid extraction. Among these techniques, adsorption is highlighted as the most frequently used method due to its high removal efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
