White matter abnormalities are key components of cerebrovascular disease impacting cognitive decline

Prashanthi Vemuri et al.

Summary: The study found that markers of cerebrovascular disease can be categorized into three main components, which have a similar impact on cognitive performance as amyloidosis. White matter changes predict future cognitive decline and measuring and considering these changes can help capture vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia.
