Injectable hydrogel for postoperative synergistic photothermal-chemodynamic tumor and anti-infection therapy

Han Huang et al.

Summary: A light-activated injectable hydrogel has been developed to inhibit tumor growth, treat bacterial infection, and promote wound healing. Through photothermal and chemodynamic effects, the hydrogel can eliminate tumors and multidrug-resistant bacteria, as well as accelerate wound healing during treatment.

Triple-synergistic MOF-nanozyme for efficient antibacterial treatment

Muxue Wang et al.

Summary: The abuse of antibiotics has led to bacterial infections becoming a serious global health threat. In this study, an acid-enhanced dual-modal antibacterial strategy based on zeolitic imidazolate frameworks-8 (ZIF8)-derived nanozyme was developed. This strategy integrates the bactericidal capabilities of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and Zn2+ release, and further enhances the overall antibacterial performance by creating an acidic environment.

Photo-Controllable Catalysis and Chiral Monosaccharide Recognition Induced by Cyclodextrin Derivatives

Lei Chen et al.

Summary: A supramolecular catalytic system was constructed using polycationic alpha-cyclodextrin and gold nanoparticles through a supramolecular assembly strategy. The cavity of cyclodextrin acts as the channel for substrate molecules to interact with the catalytic center. The introduction of azobenzene-modified diphenylalanine guest molecules allows for precise photo-control of catalytic activity and enables chiral recognition catalysis for chiral monosaccharides.

Degradable and Removable Tough Adhesive Hydrogels

Benjamin R. Freedman et al.

Summary: The development of degradable tough adhesive hydrogels with excellent mechanical and adhesive properties provides a foundation for various in vivo applications, allowing for on-demand removal without causing harm to underlying skin tissue. These new formulations show equivalent performance to nondegradable counterparts, complete degradation within weeks to months in vivo, and minimal fibrous encapsulation and no signs of organ toxicity after implantation.
