Topological supramolecular network enabled high-conductivity, stretchable organic bioelectronics

Yuanwen Jiang et al.

Summary: By using a molecular engineering strategy based on a topological supramolecular network, we have developed intrinsically stretchable bioelectronic devices with high conductivity and direct photopatternability at the cellular scale. This provides an ideal interface for seamless integration with the human body and enables precise control of organ-specific activities.

Fully implantable and bioresorbable cardiac pacemakers without leads or batteries

Yeon Sik Choi et al.

Summary: A biodegradable pacemaker without external leads has been developed to improve the safety of temporary cardiac pacing. This fully implantable pacemaker can control cardiac rate and rhythm postoperatively before dissolving completely. Tested in various animal and human models, this approach overcomes key disadvantages of traditional temporary pacing devices.

Continuous monitoring of deep-tissue haemodynamics with stretchable ultrasonic phased arrays

Chonghe Wang et al.

Summary: The development and testing of a prototype skin-conformal ultrasonic phased array for monitoring haemodynamic signals from tissues up to 14 cm beneath the skin are reported. This device allows for active focusing and steering of ultrasound beams to target regions of interest, opening up opportunities for wearable diagnostics. In healthy volunteers, the phased array has shown promising results in monitoring Doppler spectra from cardiac tissues and estimating central and cerebral blood flows in real time.

Stable Bioelectric Signal Acquisition Using an Enlarged Surface-Area Flexible Skin Electrode

Inyeol Yun et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method to enhance the electrical characteristics of a noble-metal skin electrode by surface modification using gold nanoparticles to improve signal-to-noise ratio, while quantifying motion artifact through spectral analysis. The enhanced electrode interface increases the signal-to-noise ratio in electrocardiogram and electromyogram, and reduces motion noise compared to conventional Ag/AgCl electrode.
