Highly conjugated three-dimensional covalent organic frameworks with enhanced Li-ion conductivity as solid-state electrolytes for high-performance lithium metal batteries

Shi Wang et al.

Summary: The study explores the strategy of incorporating a plastic crystal into highly conjugated COFs to improve ion transport efficiency, resulting in solid-state electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and lithium ion transference numbers at room temperature. The practical application of this strategy is confirmed through the assembly of lithium-ion batteries, demonstrating stable and reversible cycling performance.

Porous organic polymers for high-performance supercapacitors

Xu Liu et al.

Summary: In order to address global warming and fossil fuel shortages, it is necessary to develop environmentally friendly and sustainable renewable energy technologies. Supercapacitors bridge the performance gap between electrostatic double-layer capacitors and batteries by storing energy from electrochemical processes at the electrode surface. Organic electrode materials, particularly porous organic polymers (POPs), have drawn extensive attention due to their special characteristics and potential for use in supercapacitors.

Ligand-Controlled Electrochromic Diversification with Multilayer Coated Metallosupramolecular Polymer Assemblies

Indulekha Mukkatt et al.

Summary: The study designed three tetraterpyridine ligands with variations in their core architecture to create spray-coated electrochromic assemblies of iron(II)-based metallosupramolecular polymer network films. These assemblies exhibited high coloration efficiencies and optical contrast, suitable for electrochromic devices. The ligand-structure induced differential metal coordination led to porosity and spectroelectrochemical diversification, enabling the creation of electrochromic patterns and images through a simple spray-coating technique.

Design Strategies for Enhanced Conductivity in Metal-Organic Frameworks

Eric M. Johnson et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of materials with permanent porosity, high surface area, and crystallinity, offering potential for a wide range of applications, particularly in conductive materials. The continued development of conductive MOFs has led to a growing library of materials with conductivity, while factors affecting conductivity in MOFs have become more apparent. Pathways to enhance conductivity across a variety of MOF structures are being explored in fundamental studies derived from proposed methods.

Green quasi-solid-state planar asymmetric supercapacitors with high working voltage and extraordinary volumetric energy density

Zhongyou Peng et al.

Summary: This study introduced Na+ intercalated manganese oxide nanosheets as cathodes in planar asymmetric supercapacitors, in combination with porous vanadium nitride/reduced graphene oxide anodes, exhibiting higher working voltage and energy density than current state-of-the-art devices. The planar ASCs showed long-term cycling stability and excellent mechanical flexibility, making them suitable for efficient rechargeable systems when integrated with commercial solar cells.

Insights into the electric double-layer capacitance of two-dimensional electrically conductive metal-organic frameworks

Jamie W. Gittins et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional electrically conductive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown promising potential for use in electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs). The study found that the capacitive performance of these nearly isostructural MOFs is largely independent of the identity of the metal node and organic linker molecule. The performance of EDLCs is uniquely defined by the 3D structure of the electrodes and the electrolyte, with limitations in stable double-layer voltage window and capacitance retention compared to traditional electrode materials.
