Online Therapy in a Shared Reality: The Novel Coronavirus as a Test Case

Orit Nuttman-Shwartz et al.

Summary: This study examined therapists' perceptions of the COVID-19 pandemic as a Shared Traumatic Reality (STR) and the associations among their sociodemographic and professional profiles, attitudes toward psychological online interventions (POI), and satisfaction with using such interventions. The results showed that participants perceived the pandemic as an STR primarily due to financial and health concerns. Therapists' attitudes towards online therapy were related to their satisfaction with POI, and more experienced therapists were less likely to view the current situation as an STR.
