Effects of N2 dilution on laminar burning velocity, combustion characteristics and NOx emissions of rich CH4-air premixed flames

Huaqiang Chu et al.

Summary: Experimental and numerical results showed that as the equivalence ratio increased, the laminar burning velocity, intermediate radicals, and NOx emissions exhibited a trend of increasing first and then decreasing. Under the same equivalence ratio, increasing the N-2 doping ratio resulted in a decrease in the mole fraction of intermediate radicals and NOx.

Reduced mechanism for flames of propane, n-butane, and their mixtures for application to burners: Development and validation

S. Muthu Kumaran et al.

Summary: Propane, n-butane, and their mixtures are commonly used as fuels, and reliable numerical simulations of flames involving these fuels are crucial for their efficient use. A compact mechanism for these fuels suitable for multidimensional simulations is derived and extensively validated against experimental data. The main oxidation pathways are retained, and the compact mechanism is validated through 1D and 2D computations for premixed and nonpremixed flames.

Experimental Investigation of Lean Methane-Air Laminar Premixed Flames at Engine-Relevant Temperatures

Chuanzhi Luo et al.

Summary: Lean premixed combustion is an effective method to control pollutant emissions in modern industrial gas turbines at high temperatures. Experimental study and numerical predictions comparing different models showed variations in laminar flame speeds. A developed empirical correlation of laminar flame speed based on experimental data may aid in optimizing advanced gas turbine combustors.
