Prehospital Airway Management: A Systematic Review

Nancy Carney et al.

Summary: This study assessed the benefits and harms of three airway management approaches used by prehospital EMS for trauma, cardiac arrest, and medical emergencies. Results showed little difference in primary outcomes across the approaches, indicating no clear benefits of more invasive airway approaches in terms of survival, neurological function, ROSC, or successful airway insertion. More high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to advance clinical practice and EMS education and policy.
