Lag time between state-level policy interventions and change points in COVID-19 outcomes in the United States

Tanujit Dey et al.

Summary: State-level policy interventions play a critical role in managing the spread of the new coronavirus, with researchers studying the lag time between policy interventions and changes in COVID-19 outcomes in the United States. By developing a random walk model and applying a change-point detection algorithm, they estimate the number and times of change points, revealing five emerging trajectory patterns. The harmonization of data on estimated change points with non-pharmaceutical interventions provides insights into the lag time between policy enactment and its impact on COVID-19 outcomes.
