Role of Soluble Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products in Postoperative Fibrotic Lung Injury

Satoshi Nakao et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the role of soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products in postoperative acute exacerbation of interleukin disease (ILD) in lung cancer patients, as well as its predictive potential. The study found a significant association between serum levels of soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products and postoperative acute exacerbation. This independent association was observed only in the lobectomy group. Additionally, lobectomy resulted in a significant reduction in postoperative soluble receptor levels.

Summary: The study demonstrated that serum levels of S100A8 and S100A9 were significantly higher in patients with AE-IPF compared to healthy controls and patients at IPF diagnosis. Elevated levels of S100A8 and S100A9 during hospitalization were associated with worse prognosis in patients with AE-IPF.

Predictive role of circulatory HMGB1 in postoperative acute exacerbation of interstitial lung disease in lung cancer patients

Kakuhiro Yamaguchi et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the predictive potential of serum HMGB1 for postoperative acute exacerbation of interstitial lung disease in patients with lung cancer concomitant with ILD. The results indicated that higher levels of HMGB1 were significantly associated with an increased risk of AE-ILD after surgery in these patients, especially those who underwent lobectomy.

Summary: The study found that serum S100A4 level can serve as an important indicator for predicting postoperative acute exacerbation of interstitial pneumonia and short-term mortality in lung cancer patients with interstitial pneumonia.
