Why they remain: factors influencing teaching sustainability in high-poverty schools

Summary: This study explored the teaching sustainability of physical education teachers in high-poverty schools, finding that teachers can enhance their sustainability by regulating emotions, maintaining psychological flexibility and resilience, and nurturing a sense of purpose when facing career frustrations and financial stressors. The research suggests that school administrators in high-poverty schools should establish a culture of support, intentionally recruit teachers with strong teacher sustainability dispositions, in order to reduce teacher attrition concerns.

A Review of Research on Ethic of Care in Physical Education and Physical Activity Settings
