Tourist self-disclosure on WeChat in China not only enhances their experiences, but also serves as important user-generated content (UGC) in the tourism and hospitality industry. This study, based on Communication Privacy Management (CPM) Theory, explores the psychological mechanism of how ostracism affects tourist self-disclosure behavior on WeChat. The findings indicate that offline ostracism directly decreases tourist self-disclosure behavior, as well as indirectly through increasing cyber ostracism and social anxiety. Moreover, the relationship between cyber ostracism and social anxiety is moderated by interdependent self-construal. Suggestions are provided for tourism and hospitality marketing based on tourists' online and offline social network interactions as well as their cultural traits.
