Thrust Into the Spotlight: COVID-19 Focuses Media Attention on Nursing Homes

Edward Alan Miller et al.

Summary: This study examines the role of media in setting the agenda during the COVID-19 crisis by analyzing coverage of nursing homes in 4 national newspapers. The research shows a significant increase in the number of nursing home articles, with higher average word count and daily article volume post the first COVID-19 case. The research also indicates an acceleration in observed trends within the post-COVID-19 period, with The New York Times showing particularly dramatic changes.
