Summary: To eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV, scalable strategies to enhance adherence to antiretroviral therapy and pre-exposure prophylaxis are needed. Prevalence and factors associated with intimate partner violence after HIV status disclosure among pregnant women with depression in Tanzania

Zenaice Aloyce et al.

Summary: This study in Tanzania found that pregnant women living with HIV and depression faced a high risk of intimate partner violence post-disclosure of their HIV status. HIV-related stigma was associated with an increased risk of IPV following disclosure, while appreciative relationships with partners and higher hope were associated with a reduced risk of IPV. There is a need for interventions to prevent IPV based on known risk and protective factors following HIV disclosure in similar settings.
