Subjective achievement experiences at work and reduced depressivity: the mediating role of psychological need satisfaction

Michael Kronenwett et al.

Summary: This study shows that there is a negative relationship between prosocial achievement experiences and depressivity when relatedness need satisfaction is mediating, while there is a negative relationship between task-related achievement experiences and depressivity when competence need satisfaction is mediating. This highlights the importance of differentiating between the satisfaction of the three basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness in workplace achievement experiences.
