The utility of Conversation Analysis versus Roter's Interaction Analysis System for studying communication in pharmacy settings: a scoping review

Sarah Alsubaie et al.

Summary: Both Roter's method and Conversation Analysis (CA) are effective for investigating patient-pharmacist interactions independently. However, using them sequentially could help researchers identify areas for improvement (via CA), design relevant training, and investigate the impact of such training (via Roter's method) to enhance communication research.

End-of-life decisions in neonatal care: a conversation analytical study

Neil Marlow et al.

Summary: The study found that neonatologists adopted three broad strategies in conversations about limitation of life-sustaining treatments with parents: recommendations, single-option choices, and options. Parents were more likely to express their preferences, and those presented with conditional formats and options had significantly higher response scores compared to those presented with recommendations.

Cause or Effect? The Role of Prognostic Uncertainty in the Fear of Cancer Recurrence

Paul K. J. Han et al.

Summary: The study found that most ovarian cancer patients experience significant fear of cancer recurrence, with some seeking prognostic information to cope with this fear. However, many patients recognize the limits and uncertainties of prognostic information, choosing instead to maintain hope through other strategies. Prognostic uncertainty is identified as both a cause and a result of fear of cancer recurrence.
