Teddy-bear effect in service recovery

Summary: This pioneer study addresses the research gap on the extent of the babyface effect in hospitality-based service failure situations and reveals that a babyfaced service provider has a more positive effect on consumer forgiveness and recovery satisfaction. However, the babyface effect diminishes and the mature face effect increases as service failure severity increases, with warmth or competence inference playing a mediating role.

Spatial stigma and environmentally responsible behaviors during the pandemic: The moderating role of self-verification

Summary: This study examines the impact of spatial stigma encounters on travelers' emotions and environmentally responsible behavior (ERB) during the pandemic. The findings suggest that travelers' perception of spatial stigma influences their emotions of shame, anger, and animosity, which in turn, affect their ERB. The moderating role of self-verification is also confirmed. This study contributes to the understanding of the relationship between adverse emotions, self-verification, and travelers' ERB.

Frontline employee anger in response to customer incivility: Antecedents and consequences

Summary: This study examines the antecedents and consequences of FLE anger evoked by customer incivility, as well as the moderating effect of emotion regulation. The results show that cognitive appraisals, coping potential, and emotion regulation all play important roles in influencing FLE retaliation intention in response to customer incivility. The findings extend the literature by highlighting the psychological mechanism underlying how customer incivility triggers FLE retaliation intention.

The study further constructs a four-stage transformative process of wellness experience: realization, involvement, transformation, and appreciation.
