The digital digital divide: A review and future research agenda

Sophie Lythreatis et al.

Summary: This article provides a systematic review of the digital divide, identifies the factors and new forms that have emerged in recent years, and highlights the importance of education in relation to the divide. The majority of recent literature has focused on Level 2 of the divide, and there is limited research on the divide at the firm level. New forms such as type-of-internet access and potential new levels such as algorithmic awareness and data inequalities have been identified. The findings contribute to the understanding and development of the digital divide concept and offer insights for managers to address the divide within their organizations.

Women's Pathways to Digital Inclusion Through Digital Labour in Rural Farming Households

Amber Marshall

Summary: This study highlights the impact of digital divide in rural Australia on women, showing that they are more involved in digital labor compared to men, especially in online household activities. Women's greater expertise in digital technologies enables them to forge pathways to digital inclusion and self-determination, contributing to emergent understandings of digital labor and digital inclusion scholarship in rural contexts.
