A valuation approach of port funding strategies with application to a container terminal concession in Sub-Saharan Africa

Darren Fraser et al.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the port valuation and funding strategies in sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on the financial value of concessions and cost advantageous funding strategies. The findings suggest that a higher debt ratio as a principal funding strategy could lead to the highest concession valuation, shortest payback period, and highest internal rate of return values. Ultimately, the optimal funding strategy for a concession depends on the financial goals of the investor.
