Innovation and green total factor productivity in China: a linear and nonlinear investigation

Summary: This study examines the influence of innovation on green total factor productivity (GTFP) using provincial panel data from China. The results show that innovation plays a leading role in promoting GTFP growth in general, but the impacts of different types of patents on green growth vary, and the relationship between innovation and green GTFP has changed before and after 2009. Additionally, the impact of innovation on green growth is influenced by factors such as human capital, knowledge stock, financial development, and environmental regulation stringency.
