Developing an Inclusive Conceptual Model for Preventing Violence in the Home in Humanitarian Settings: Qualitative Findings From Myanmar and the Democratic Republic of Congo

Kathryn Falb et al.

Summary: This qualitative study examines the shared risk factors and social norms that contribute to intimate partner violence, child maltreatment, and violence against marginalized household members in the home. The study finds that violence in the home is influenced by various factors, including gender inequality, armed conflict, and political instability. Additionally, displacement/migration-related stressors and lack of community resources to support families, especially those with disabilities, are common risk factors. The study highlights the importance of addressing gender inequality and acceptance of violence in order to prevent violence in the home.
