Effect of elevated temperature on flexural behavior and fibers-matrix bonding of recycled PP fiber-reinforced cementitious composite

Vito Francioso et al.

Summary: The research found that recycled PP fibers had a minor impact on flexural strength under normal conditions, but helped improve the strength and toughness of the composite after exposure to high temperature, enhancing its behavior under flexural stresses.

Effect of macro polypropylene, polyamide and steel fibers on the residual properties of SCC at ambient and elevated temperatures

Soner Guler et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of different fibers on the properties of reinforced self-compacting concrete (FRSCC) under high temperature conditions. The findings indicate that the macro size fibers of polyamide and polypropylene have similar effects on preserving toughness, with polyamide performing better in the post-peak stage; meanwhile, steel fibers show noticeable increments in flexural strength and toughness capacities.

Mechanical properties of polyvinyl alcohol-basalt hybrid fiber engineered cementitious composites with impact of elevated temperatures

Zhen-bo Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the mechanical properties of PVA-basalt hybrid fiber reinforced ECC after exposure to elevated temperatures were investigated experimentally. The replacement of PVA fibers with basalt fibers improved the residual compressive toughness and delayed the reduction in tensile strength. Additionally, basalt fibers reduced the vulnerability of flexural deflections in hybrid fiber ECC. The SEM results revealed the mechanisms responsible for the mechanical evolution of hybrid fiber ECC at different temperatures. This study provides insights into the impact of high temperatures and basalt fibers on the residual mechanical properties of ECC, as well as guidance for enhancing fire resistance.
