Effect of alum sludge ash on the high-temperature resistance of mortar

Yue Liu et al.

Summary: The addition of alum sludge ash (ASA) in mortar improves its high-temperature resistance, especially when 20% of cement is replaced with ASA. Thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction results suggest that ASA mineral reactions play a positive role in forming aluminum-bearing phases with good refractory properties.

Cementitious composites containing alum sludge ash: An investigation of microstructural features by an advanced nanoindentation technology

Yue Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of alum sludge ash (ASA) in cement-based composites, with varying percentages of 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%. Results showed that the paste samples with 10% ASA exhibited higher pozzolanic reaction degree and homogenized indentation properties compared to those with 30% ASA. Excessive unreacted ASA may lead to a deterioration in the mechanical performance of the binder pastes.
