Systematic Modification of UiO-66 Metal-Organic Frameworks for Glucose Conversion into 5-Hydroxymethyl Furfural in Water

Ryan Oozeerally et al.

Summary: Metal organic framework UiO-66 was studied as a heterogeneous catalyst for glucose conversion, with modified UiO-66 showing higher isomerisation activity. Replacing 50% of the linkers with sulfonate-containing linkers resulted in increased isomerisation activity, while the introduction of naphthalene-dicarboxylate linkers improved fructose selectivity.

Metal-Organic Frameworks in Oxidation Catalysis with Hydrogen Peroxide

Summary: This paper reviews the recent research progress on the use of MOFs as selective oxidation catalysts and supports, focusing on their applications in liquid-phase selective oxidation with aqueous hydrogen peroxide. The effects of metal nature and MOF structure on catalysis, as well as mechanisms of hydrogen peroxide activation, are analyzed. The challenges of catalyst stability and reusability, along with the scope and limitations of MOF catalysts in H2O2-based selective oxidation, are also discussed.
