Phenolic Ester-Decorated Cellulose Nanocrystals as UV-Absorbing Nanoreinforcements in Polyvinyl Alcohol Films

Summary: This study demonstrates the successful incorporation of novel UV-absorbing phenolic esters onto cellulose nanocrystals and their application in polyvinyl alcohol films, resulting in transparent films with excellent photostability and UV-absorbing properties. The modified CNC-DEF significantly improves mechanical, oxygen barrier, and optical properties of the films, making them potential candidates for industrial and packaging applications.
