Health app policy: international comparison of nine countries' approaches

Summary: There is a global effort to develop policy frameworks for regulating the use of health apps. While countries are taking different paths, there is international convergence in terms of requirements for transparency, health content, interoperability, and privacy and security. However, the large number of apps in the market poses challenges for clinicians and patients, and more regulatory work is needed to address issues such as reimbursement, safety, and privacy.
