Palynological Study on Some Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) Cultivars Using Scanning Electron Microscopy

Burcak Isci

Summary: In this study, the pollen morphology of selected grape cultivars was examined using scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that there were differences in the microstructural characteristics of pollen among the cultivars. Principal component analysis and cluster analysis were performed to classify the cultivars into two main groups.

Evaluation of morphological traits of flowers and crossing possibility of haskap (Lonicera L.) cultivars depending on their origin

Monika Bieniasz et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the compatibility of new haskap cultivars from Canada and Russia for cross-pollination. The results showed that Russian cultivars bloomed earlier than Canadian cultivars, and the stigma was most receptive in the freshly open flower stage. The minimum qualitatively acceptable weight of a berry was 1g. The best mutual pollinating cultivars were those within the same breeding group.

The effect of temperature on grapevine phenological intervals: Sensitivity of budburst to flowering

W. Cameron et al.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between temperature and the lengths of phenological intervals in the grapevine growth cycle. The interval between budburst and flowering was found to be the most affected by temperature. With increasing spring maximum temperatures, the rate of decrease in length of the budburst to flowering interval will slow and plateau. Additionally, there is cultivar diversity in response to temperature.

Morphology, Physiology and Analysis Techniques of Grapevine Bud Fruitfulness: A Review

Ana I. Monteiro et al.

Summary: Grapevine reproductive development spans two growing seasons, with three well-defined stages. The formation of inflorescence primordia determines future yields, and viticulturists and winemakers can predict yields by assessing fruitfulness, adjusting cluster numbers to enhance fruit quality.
