Adulteration Detection in Goat Dairy Beverage Through NIR Spectroscopy and DD-SIMCA

Jose Luan Da Paixao Teixeira et al.

Summary: This study developed a green analytical method using NIR spectroscopy and DD-SIMCA to verify the authenticity of goat dairy beverage and detect adulteration with bovine whey. The classification model showed high accuracy in distinguishing between authentic and adulterated samples, indicating the efficiency of NIR and class modeling in controlling the authenticity of goat dairy beverages.

Non-destructive determination of color, titratable acidity, and dry matter in intact tomatoes using a portable Vis-NIR spectrometer

Annelisa Arruda de Brito et al.

Summary: This study used a portable Vis-NIR spectrometer to collect the spectra of fresh tomatoes from five tomato cropping regions in Brazil and developed models to predict the color and dry matter content of tomatoes. The results showed good prediction results for color and dry matter, but poor prediction results for titratable acidity.

The Combination of Vibrational Spectroscopy and Chemometrics for Analysis of Milk Products Adulteration

Anjar Windarsih et al.

Summary: Milk products are among the most nutritious foods due to their high protein content, but they are also prone to adulteration. Vibrational spectroscopy combined with multivariate analysis is a rapid and powerful analytical technique for detecting milk adulteration, providing comprehensive information for screening adulteration in milk products.

Protein Structural Denaturation Evaluated by MCR-ALS of Protein Microarray FTIR Spectra

Joelle De Meutter et al.

Summary: The study used protein microarrays and FTIR imaging to analyze structural modifications in a set of 85 proteins with different secondary structure contents, revealing 6 components in native proteins correlated with alpha-helix, beta-sheet, and other structures, and a new component in denatured proteins potentially representing intermolecular beta-sheet aggregation. MCR-ALS provided insight into potential spectroscopic markers of protein aggregation and other structural rearrangements.

Pheomelanin subunit non-destructive quantification by Raman spectroscopy and multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares (MCR-ALS)

Ana Carolina de Oliveira Neves et al.

Summary: The study successfully quantified the constituent monomers of pheomelanin using Raman spectroscopy combined with chemometrics. The MCR-ALS method was effective in predicting the concentrations of BT and BZ, as well as extracting interference from keratin in feathers. This method provides a direct and non-destructive analytical approach for pheomelanin subunits at the monomeric level.

Three-way calibration using PARAFAC and MCR-ALS with previous synchronization of second-order chromatographic data through a new functional alignment of pure vectors for the quantification in the presence of retention time shifts in peak position and shape

Sarmento J. Mazivila et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the use of FAPV algorithm as a proper method for aligning second-order chromatographic data with severe retention time shifts, showing successful decomposition by PARAFAC and MCR-ALS models. The results indicate that FAPV algorithm effectively restores trilinearity lost due to shifted and warped elution time profiles, leading to accurate trilinear decomposition with low relative prediction error values.

Near infrared spectroscopy coupled to MCR-ALS for the identification and quantification of saffron adulterants: Application to complex mixtures

Rafael C. Castro et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the successful use of NIR spectroscopy coupled with MCR-ALS for the simultaneous identification and quantification of four common adulterants in saffron samples. The results showed the feasibility and effectiveness of this approach in complex mixtures and at low levels. It was the first time that NIR spectroscopy and MCR-ALS were used together to identify and quantify multiple adulterants in saffron samples.

Sung-Wook Hwang et al.

Summary: This study established prediction models for the non-destructive evaluation of lignin-derived hydrochars' carbonization characteristics using near-infrared spectra, accurately predicting carbon content, oxygen/carbon, and hydrogen/carbon ratios with high coefficients of determination and low root mean square errors. The models showed better prediction performance compared to ordinary least squares regression models.
