Mechanism of Resistance to S-metolachlor in Palmer amaranth

Gulab Rangani et al.

Summary: The study investigated the molecular mechanisms of resistance to the herbicide S-metolachlor in glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth populations in Arkansas as early as 2014. The resistance was mainly driven by GSTs, causing metabolic resistance in roots. The analysis of candidate genes revealed similarities with known detoxifying GSTs, suggesting elevated baseline expression and inducibility by S-metolachlor in resistant plants.

Phenological corrections to a field-scale, ET-based crop stress indicator: An application to yield forecasting across the US Corn Belt

Yang Yang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that remotely sensed ET at high spatiotemporal resolution can provide valuable water stress information for forecasting crop yields across the Corn Belt. Results show that ESI has good correlations with yield anomalies, especially during the silking stage for corn and the reproductive stage for soybean.
