Effects of temperature on the survival and development of the early life stages of northern pike (Esox lucius)

Emilie Realis-Doyelle et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of temperature on the survival rate and various variables of northern pike. The results showed that low temperature prolonged the development time but did not significantly affect the survival rate. Additionally, at higher temperature, the pike exhibited larger body size and higher energy values.

Increased spatial resolution of sampling in the Carpathian basin helps to understand the phylogeny of central European stream-dwelling gudgeons

Peter Takacs et al.

Summary: This study conducted a phylogenetic investigation on stream-dwelling freshwater fish (Gobio spp.) individuals collected from the data-deficient Southeastern Carpathian area, discovering seven newly described haplotypes and identifying two valid species (G. obtusirostris, G. gobio) and a haplogroup with doubtful phylogenetic position G. sp. 1. The distribution patterns of the detected lineages align with recent and paleo hydrogeographic features in the Middle-Danubian area.
