The Perspectives of Australian Naturopaths about Providing Health Services for People with Sleep Disorders

Vibha Malhotra et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the clinical approach Australian naturopaths take in providing care for people with sleep disorders. 20 naturopaths across 5 Australian states were interviewed, revealing 4 identifiable themes. The results suggest that sleep health consults were common, herbal remedies combined with lifestyle and sleep hygiene behaviors were the most common treatments recommended, and interprofessional communication to medical doctors was seldom reciprocated. Recommendations include government-funded research and establishing statutory registration of naturopaths to develop integrated patient-centered sleep health care models.

Mariam M. Basheti et al.

Summary: Community pharmacists play a significant role in managing sleep health, but lack adequate knowledge and training. Development and preliminary evaluation of the Conventional Medicine Disclosure Index

Erica McIntyre et al.

Summary: This study developed a multidimensional index for identifying reasons for conventional medicine disclosure and non-disclosure by patients, demonstrating adequate construct validity. The index is valuable for researchers interested in exploring the complementary medicine clinical encounter, as it can aid in understanding patients' reasons for disclosure and non-disclosure, thereby facilitating targeted interventions to promote safe medicine use.
