Recent advances in the surface modification strategies to improve functional finishing of cotton with natural colourants-A review

Yanyun Zhang et al.

Summary: Cotton-based textiles have attracted attention in various industries due to their comfort, softness, and warmth. However, there are inherent limitations in using cotton in natural dyeing technology. The application of green surface modification strategies has been regarded as an important approach to overcome these limitations.

Sonochemical mordanting as a green and effective approach in enhancing cotton bio natural dye affinity through soy surface modification

Yanyun Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the application of ultrasonics in mordanting and subsequent dyeing. The results showed that ultrasonic mordanting can significantly increase fiber dye uptake and fabric color strength. It also provides cotton fabric with a softer handle and improves UV protection and antibacterial properties of the dyed fabrics.

Summary: Free radical graft polymerization of DADMAC on cotton significantly improves dyeability cotton with reactive dyes under salt-free conditions. The cationization modification enhances the effectiveness of dye fixing and increases the dye uptake rate and dyeing depth compared to conventional dyeing techniques.
